San Diego Getaway...

A few weeks ago the boy said "Want to go to San Diego the 1st weekend of Aug?"
Um - yes.  I will never say no to going on vacation - even if it's a bitty one.  I love getting away.  Even for a couple of days.  Yes - I'm a creature of habit, but breaking that pattern and not thinking about anything related to work/stress/chores/etc for a little bit is a perfect break.

So - he booked an air bnb for Thur/Fri night and we headed down after work on Thursday.  The crazy thing -  NO TRAFFIC!  I was floored.  We left a bit after 6 and I was so ready to be sitting on the 5 but nope - it was a beautiful breeze!  Thank you Traffic Gods!

We got settled in and walked over to a great little bistro for dinner.  The air bnb was located in a fantastic spot very reminiscent of Long Beach.  I got myself a delectable Rose and I think the best Fish & Chips I've ever had.  Seriously - the fish was so flaky and yummy!  Afterwards we wandered the area a bit to see what was around then back to the bnb for some hot tub time!  Yup!  They had a hot tub!  Very cool.

Friday we lazily got up and out the door and headed to Torrey Pines Trail. It was beautiful!  Right along the coast.  FYI - parking was $20 not $10 as it states on the website so be ready for that.  Ouch.  But that didn't ruin our lovely day.  The weather was warm but not too brutal.  I shot along the way as you'll see below.  So damn pretty!!!  I so want to go back!  We went on about 3 different trails - the last one leading down to the beach.  We were so hot by the time we got down there we just jumped in the ocean - clothes and all.  We figured we'd be dry enough by the time we got back to the car.  It was so refreshing and the ocean wasn't super freezing either!  We then walked back along the beach.  Absolutely gorgeous day!

Panorama Fun

Just so pretty and peaceful!

Loved the texture!

Panorama-ing!

These little guys were just wandering around with us!  Totally cool with people

After this we headed back to clean up.  We ordered a GrubHub delivery on our way back since we were starving.  He picked a Mexican joint and damn did those tacos taste amazing!!  We then decided we were going to bike over to Balboa Park since it was only 3 miles away.  The bnb gal had bikes for use which is what gave us the idea.  Now - We got a little lost.  This wouldn't be that big of a deal except that lots of hills were involved and we were on bikes.  Lord.  But Pat & I have joked that we seem to end up on these unexpected "adventures" we like to call them and they make for a good story.  But lemme tell ya - my legs were feeling it!  When we finally found sort of where we needed to go, we locked the bikes up in a questionable spot and hiked up another mini hill and low and behold - Balboa Park!!!  Yay!

Just getting started

These were some hella talented kids playing jazz!!!

Food Truck Fridays!
On Friday's they have Food Truck Fridays during the summer so it was super cool!  We wandered around and checked out the vendors and grabbed a couple of drinks in the air conditioned restaurant/bar they have there.  We would have stayed longer, but since our little "adventure" derailed us a bit we wanted to get back before dark.  So off we went.  A bit of a trek home but we made it.  We cleaned up and headed out for a late sushi dinner that was walking distance from our place.  After that we were like "We'll watch a movie and chill in the hot tub! It'll be great!"  Nope - we passed the fuck out.  Ha!

Saturday we lazily got moving again and packed up to check out of our little bnb getaway.  We grabbed a quick brekkie around the corner then headed out.  We decided to go back to Balboa Park and spend the day there before we headed home since we didn't stay too long the night before.  We did wander off in the wrong direction at one point that landed us on another "adventure".  We actually joked that we're going to start a fitness craze about getting lost but it makes you so fit!  Lord.  Anywhoo - it was beautiful, relaxing day of us wandering, looking at museums, watching random performers, having lunch on the grass, eating ice cream and enjoying our time together.

So - they had these little scooters all over San Diego.  Just sitting there.  You apparently download an app and you can rent them.  You then just leave them wherever!  It was so random and cool!  So Pat wanted to test it out.  I think we may be doing this next time we come down!

About to get lost again

There was a guy that came out later and was rehearsing.  Really cool!!!

Stalking my boyfriend while checkin out some art

One thing that made me love San Diego more, was the massive about of support for the LGBTQ Community!  They had an exhibit about the history.  It was awesome.

Pretty Botanical Gardens!

We so cute

This was made entirely of paper!!!  So rad!

So these guys have all apparently been on shows such as America's Got Talent, World of Dance and another Dance show.  They were pretty awesome!

This dude - No bones.  I swear.  He made his body and shoulders do things that no human should be capable of doing!!

I want to paint my backyard like this someday!

Rad little sculpture garden!

My new favorite picture of us

I scream you scream....
When we headed out - we decided to swing by the Stone Brewery in Escondido.  Pat had wanted to hit the one on DT San Diego but it was getting late and DT can be a bit nutty.  We sat outside and it ended up being a perfect little button to end our mini vacay on!

Pat got his beer flight!
It was a lovely little getaway indeed!  It has also renewed my love for that area!  We definitely want to go back!
