Some good dates...

So I felt I should throw out a blog about the very few good dates I actually had via this online hell.

We didn't work out romantically, but it's not that the guys were assholes or anything - we just didn't click.  Just...I don't know...

Remember I'm not very good at this.

So ladies - there is hope for a few good dates at least!

Good date #1: Disney Dude.  He lived in San Diego so that was already a flag, but you never know.  If you really click I think you'll make a distance thing work.  I've seen it done.  I mean think about it, you can be all like "I miss you!!!!"  Lots of creative texting.  You know.

Anywhoo - he had talked about being a Disney fan on his profile so of course I had to promptly give him shit for it.  He invited me to a party in LA, but I wasn't comfortable going somewhere with someone I didn't really know to a party with no one I knew.  I made the suggestion of meeting up beforehand for a drink or something on his way.  He was down.  We jokingly talked about Disneyland and guess where we landed.  Yup.  Totally random.  But a first that's for sure!  Could be a good story?

We met up and ended up spending the whole friggin afternoon, night there.  He skipped his party.  We pretty much just bar/food hopped a bit then went on a few rides near the end of the night.  The thing is - I had a feeling it wasn't going anywhere.  We had a fantastic time.  He's also an actor so there's that. (You non-actor folks may not get it but we usually all just get along).  There were a few things I raised my eyebrow at and he was already hemming and hawwing about the distance so I just had a feeling.  We had great chemistry and had a really fun, awesome long epic date.  It's the only dude I've ever invited back to my place on a 1st date and no we didn't DO THAT!! (Get your mind out of the gutter)

But we did have fun.  A few days later I sent the "Let's call a spade a spade text" but I went on to say how much I dug him and could we stay in contact as friends? (We also had already Facebooked each too!).  He said I took the words right out of his mouth.  So there it is - a new friend!  And a new friend in the biz.  He's already chatted with me about an audition.  Totally a dude I could see myself hanging out with again.  This hadn't happened yet in the dating world, but I'm really glad it did.

Good Date #2: Weirdly enough, 2 of my better dates came out of Tinder.  This guy we'll call Moby.  He was also another one that lived a bit far, but he came down to meet me for dinner/drinks.  We spent a couple of hours together chatting about life, politics, art and more.  He was very cool and we got along well but just no spark.  I had a feeling it was mutual but I wasn't sure.  I mean we all know how clueless I am with men.

So we ended the evening with kind of an awkward kiss and off he went.  A couple of days later I got the "You're just a bit too far distance wise" text.  I thanked him for actually not ghosting.  I mean this guy actually had balls.  At least not every single man I meet is a coward.  I was starting to wonder.  But again - super cool guy, we had great convo and I would totally go like to an art show or something with him if that ever came about.  Just didn't click romantically.

Good Date #3:  This guy happens to be a Professor at my work.  Look at that!  Local!!!!  We went out a few times.  Super smart guy.  Very passionate, very political.  But again...I just wasn't feeling that click I guess.  I was thinking of going out with him a few more times to see if something got stirred because not a jerk!  But it just didn't happen.  So, I did the "Can we be friends" bit and he seemed down with that.  Because AGAIN - met a new cool guy I'd love to have in my life on a friendship level.  I have a lot of guy friends, so it's not like that's unusual and I guess some of them were dudes we tried to date, didn't work out but stayed friends.  So I guess these good dates turned friends is the same thing?

But anyway - I'm loving that so many of you lovelies have really enjoyed reading about my dating adventures.  If my mis steps can make you laugh - I have done my job.  :)

So here's a good one.  I wanted throw a shout out to these guys in this blog because you're all awesome and thank you for giving me hope that not every man is a total asshole.

Irish Spirit Run 2017...

4th year!
You've all read the blogs!

This year I actually joined the walkers group since my foot is wrecked and I'm getting over a cold (I mean seriously am I always sick for this run?!)

Still had a great time and was way less sweaty as a walker!!

My walker outfit!

We start off at Fullerton Brew House.
The gang orders pictures of beers and starts drinking as people arrive and check in.  I of course have mimosas.  The staff here rocks and takes care of us.

The brain behind it all, checking us in

Lots of years of friendship here!

Irish Buds
Lovely ladies!
I adore Melinda!

Bye runners!  Hopefully be back in that group next year!
But the walkers are pretty cool!

Next stop is Joes.  They're my favorite because they always play loud Irish music and blow horns and shout as we arrive.  They pretty much celebrate us.  It's awesome.
The old Kickball Crew!

Beers ready!
Stop three is Hopscotch
This one always has my favorite wine!

Before stop 4 was a surprise stop in Tully's garage where he had cupcakes, mini corn beef sandwiches, jello shots and water guns!  SO RAD!!!  I of course inhaled like 4 cupcakes and 5 sandwiches!

Tully's Garage Pub!

Da Boys!

Stop 4 was Pint House.  This is where we all attempted the mannequin challenge!  Check out the video Mannequin Video.  So rad and hilarious!

The group!

Our last stop always lands us at Branagans where we eat, drink and be merry!!!  Oh and Tully gives us our "medals".

Guess whose one of the winos?

Finishers!
Arie and I were apparently attempting "Bitchy Resting Faces" here

Love this girl!

I of course I must eat. Always.

And of course one last glass of wine!

Apparently I was all about the kissy face this year

Melinda and her sad little whistle
As per always - Tully puts together this fantastic event.  We all pitch in $20 for "5K, 5 Beers, 5 Bars" It's a fucking blast and I love him for putting this on!
Until next year!!!!

Champagne Runch...

I saw this Champagne Runch pop up somewhere and thought...um food and mimosas?!  So in.  Oh yea, and maybe I'll run.

My bestie and I promptly signed up and had a blast!!

First off let me say this - it wasn't a 5K.  I don't even think it was a 1K.  We ran in a circle at the OC Great Park and in the middle of this stopped for donuts.  I mean, I know some actual runner people were miffed, but for Lib and I - PERF!  I'm dealing with some health stuff and a couple of injuries so I'm not in tip top shape but damn I can eat.  And boy did we!!!

I'm used to arriving at races an hour before your wave time, so 5:30am I was at Libby's door.  This so could have been avoided.  It was super tiny and they started late so.....could have slept another hour.  Oh Well.

We got there in plenty of time to get our shirts to wear and wander.
Hi Big Orange Balloon!
When I'm cold I apparently have no neck

Ready eat er...run!
The registration included a T-Shirt, medal, the supposed 5K, a glass of mimosa, 5 brunch folks and a few other things.  4 were attached to our bib then the brunch peeps were on our wristband.

It was a hella cold morning, so one of our bib goodies said coffee/tea - I was excited for a hot cup of coffee.  Sadly it was a cold one - BUT - damn delicious!  Mine was called a Dirty Horchata from Contra.

Wishing for warmth

When the "race" was finally ready to start we headed off!  As we trotted I was hoping to warm up, but damn was it chilly!!

One fun thing about the OC Great Park is we had little history lessons as we trotted!

So a bit before the short race ended - there was a "Carb Load" stop.  This was one of our little tickets on our bib and we got a free donut from California Donuts.  Holy shit!!!  So yum!! They had a little area with a bunch of different choices, so there was quite the back up as people took pictures and made their decision on what donut to get!  It was pretty funny watching people trot the rest of the race holding a cute little box!
Like 2 minutes later the lines got huge!

Lib got a donut with Reeses Pieces on top!

Nerds

My donut had crumbled up Thin Mint cookies!!!  OMG!

And then all of a sudden you were done!

Finishers!
Woohoo!!  Time to eat!

So they gave us boxes to put all our food in.  They weren't quite big enough so Libby and I grabbed some, ate those then got the rest!  Our 1st set we just chowed down on a bench in the middle of the food area.  SO GOOD!!

1st up was Snooze.  We got a pancake with blueberry and lemon cream.  Oh. My. God.

Honestly, best pancake I've ever had!
2nd up was Tender Greens.  Seriously one of the best salads eva!!!  Whatever dressing they used was delish! Libby of course gave me her tuna.  The little cup was a yummy quinoa mix!

Yummy Yummy!
3rd stop was The Kroft.  I've been to the one in the Anaheim Packing District and loved it!  We got a pork sandwich which was a bit too spicy (but I did eat half!) for me but the potato salad was to die for!  And yes - that's bacon bits on the salad!

That Potato Salad tho...

Then there was a bonus place.  They weren't on our bracelet but giving out samples.  It was Poke! So of course I was in - and got Libby's!

Baby Poke Bowl
About this time our boxes were over flowing so that's when we parked it to eat the 1st chunk.  Then off for more!!

4th on the bracelet was Hug Life Vegan Ice Cream.  Vegan you guys!!  Which means non dairy!  Which means I can eat it and holy crap!  Yum!!!!  I got the Reese's Peace.  Lib got the Cookie Butterface.  Mine tasted just like the candy and Lib's had an awesome cinnamon flair!  So good!!!

So good, but why all the cold stuff!!!
Next up was another bib goodie and it was some shakes from Protein Lab.  I got the chocolate and Lib got the green one.  Mine was sadly not delish at all, but Libby's was awesome!

Not tasty

Very tasty!
Last stop on the brunch was Bakers and Baristas.  Dude.  May have been some of the best fried chicken ever had!!!!!!!

Chicken on a biscuit in gravy!!!!!
At this point we headed over to the brunch area where they had Pet Adoption, the tables, the bar and some games like Jenga and a Giant Beer Pong!

We got our mimosas and enjoyed the rest of our brunch!

So cold. No neck

Little disappointed our dude didn't give us champagne flutes but at least they had booze!

I like mimosa races!

So does Lib!
They also paired up with OC Pet Adoption and had some adorable little friends to adopt.  Not gonna lie, almost took home a 7 year old Chihuahua.  I wish my cats played well with others.

All in all the event was fun for sure!  The food was definitely the highlight.  I'd love to see this event become something a little bigger!  I would certainly sign up again!
