A couple of days in Julian...

It's winter break.  I'm off a few days.  Pat took a week off.  The kid is out of school - so - Pat suggested us getting out of town for a couple of days.

He rented a cute cabin up in Julian!  The place was huge and actually would be really great to come back to with another family once all this COVID crap is over.  Such an awesome place!  We did a Mon through Wed, shorty but goody, and had a great time!  Bonus - it snowed!  Unfortunately we didn't get to see it fall out of the actual sky (One of these days I swear!!!) but it really made everything so pretty!  The day we left, OC was getting hammered with it's 1st Winter Storm that was legit.  So it was a bit of a rough travel down there and I had to drive in snow!  EEEEEK!  But I did ok.

On our way in we did a slight detour and checked out a few of the sculptures in Anza Borrego!

That was so cool!  We got lucky and the rain let up a bit for us, so we could pop around!

Not sure what these are!

We rolled in to Julian Tue eve.  It was so crowded!  We had planned to grab dinner to go but everywhere was so crowded we all just said forget it and hoped for Door Dash.  I then did a very anxiety ridden drive up the mountain to our cabin IN THE SNOW AND RAIN!  When we arrived and quickly unloaded the car, we got the sad realization no delivery...so...snacks and sandwiches for dinner and of course some much needed wine for me!  The place was neat but apparently the heater doesn't work if it's too cold.  Sigh. There was a fireplace and a couple of space heaters so we made do.  Reminded me of my Caboose days!

Perfect!

The cool game room!  Look how pretty it is outside!

Cozied up for movie night

Night one

The next day our plan was to hit the town and do some geocaching.  I had a couple of cool ones to do.  There's an Adventure Lab app that coincides with the Geocaching app (Lord help me! LOL!!) so we did them!  It was so fun!  We grabbed a little card from Town Hall that sends you on a little tour and did my geocaching/adventure lab ones with it.  We basically went to a bunch of places all over the town, learned some history and got hints.  It was a perfect way to spend the day in town especially since COVID and crowds and it wasn't really the normal way we'd pop around town.  So this worked out perfect!

Easy find!

I can't stop photographing

Tuesday late afternoon we came back and played in the cool game room, relaxed and watched Mr. Mom.

Got some Julian Staples!

Wed morning I took a lovely solo walk around the neighborhood and found one last cache!

It was a fun way to get away safely and enjoy a change of scenery - beautiful scenery at that!  I hope to get back when times are better!
