This is becoming quite the amazing yearly event that Dad and Lori treat the kids!
We eat, we drink, we look at art, the ladies get jewelry, and the best part of all is our fam gets together and has an absolute blast!
I usually drive separate and park across the 55 freeway and walk over since I'm a cheapskate and don't want to pay for parking :)
I meet up with the crew and we head in! We must do a fabulous selfie 1st of course!

The sun glassed McCoy's |
Everyone got some beers then we headed to our favorite BBQ Corn stand. This year they started serving cup of corn so Danelle could actually partake! Yay!
|
Corn |
Then we were on a mission to find the BBQ joint that serves the Tri-Tip sandwiches. Well - a bunch of stuff as moved! Doh!!! So after some very humorous wandering and spats we finally found it! We all got our share of messy BBQ meat and promptly devoured it. We also shared some super delish fries!
More beer and some wine for me. We have to go to the wine garden to get wine and the sweet older volunteers are a crack up to watch. As we were walking out a few women asked me for wine advice. I found myself describing a couple of the different varietals I saw. Um - I'm such a fucking wine snob now! LOL!
Of to see our favorite jeweler
Brenda. Every year dad buys Lori, D and I a piece of her beautiful handmade fine jewelry. I love it! I usually try to pick one of the more unique pieces. And this year was no exception. I forgot to take a picture, but it's a green/red natural stone that sort of does a 3 tear drop down. I love it! She didn't have any 20 inch chains so she's shipping one out to me next week. I can't wait to wear it! Lori got some really pretty chandelier looking earrings with a lovely blue stone and D a mutli banded ring! Thanks Daddy!
We then wandered around the new area that is apparently a new entrance to PacAmp. Really cool! Time for ice cream! Dad and I partook. I got myself a frozen banana dipped in chocolate and almond and toffee. AWESOME! Then D found the silly stick your head in the board things.

Wha? |

I'm apparently trying to be a blow up doll |
|
Like father like daughter |
After our dorky poses and ice cream yummies we all grabbed another round of booze (My wine guy reminded me so much of my Papa!!), briefly lost my father for a bit, then headed off to the games!
Before we hit the games we hit Lori's favorite cupcake stand and this happened.
|
Cupcake-Gasm |
Lori opted for the largest amount of tickets yet! So we were ready!! Our 1st water race we revisited our favorite carnie with the trippy blind eye. Shane promptly won the 1st race and D chose an adorable monkey.
|
Hai! |
The next round (we opted to stay and play again) the carnie did something different. He rearranged a few of us and amongst the grumbling explained. "Everyone stand up!" we did so. "Now look across from you!" A very spunky gal yelled at me that I'm going down and I burst out laughing. Carnie says "Now wait a minute....here's the deal....whoever wins this next race - the person across from you gets a prize as well!" Now the girl was my best friend! "Boy did you change your tune!" The Carnie laughingly shouted at my now partner in crime. Game began - the guy directly across from Dad won. Well that meant dad got to pick a prize too. He said I could pick out something so I opted for the Purple and Pink Hipster Lemur. Yes you read that right.
Next up was what we thought was throwing darts at balloons. The man handed Lori and I hacky sacks. Um what? "That's what you use to pop the balloons" he said. I turned and BAM! Popped my 2 balloons! 1. 2. YEAH BITCH! Lori handed hers to Shane who handed them to me but I got cocky and missed those. Dammit. But I still won a little blue butterfly that will now be a toy for Shane & D's dog. We then took my favorite selfie:

We all look rad |
Another water race. We all lost to a child. Dammit. We then headed over to the big water race. I mean why not right?
|
Concentration |
|
But me and Hipster Lemur won. |
HOLY SHIT I WON! We were dying. It was a full group and I friggin won! I saw this snake with a happy face so picked him. Well what I didn't know was the thing was huge!!! They guy tossed me the head, then said "Now hold on here..." and kept pulling the body towards me like one of those magic tricks where the ribbons keep coming out of your sleeves! Ha ha ha!

Snake |

Giant damn snake |
Not gonna lie - I felt like a champion.
We wandered some more, looking for more games to spend our insane amount of tickets on and Shane & D played some Skeeball. They didn't win (because it's ridiculous what you have to score to win) but D kicked Shane's ass. Ladies rule!

Skee Ball Queen |
|
Look at that look of determination |
We then took some fun Fair photos in front of the Carousel shots, because, well, you just do.

Dad looking slightly uncomfortable |
|
Shane may be bordering psycho here... |
We still have tickets!! Back to the games we go. We threw an entire basket of rings at bottles. Does anyone ever actually win that one?
Dad tried at some Beer Pong. Nope.
We hit up another water race and Lori won herself a cutie Hello Kitty.
|
Look at mah fabulous painted dress and bow! |
Then the 2nd game highlight (I mean the main one of course was my giant snake win) was the last of the tickets. D wanted to play that game where you shoot a ball into a stack of 3 cups. You have to knock all 3 completely off the platform. Another one that I swear is almost impossible to win - hence the giant prizes. She tried twice and didn't get it. But if you watched her you could see her figuring out her errors. 3rd time she got 2 shots. 1st shot - BAM! Knocked them all off! We all screamed and cheered. A giant Stewie doll was handed over for Shane. She still had one more shot but the dude said someone else had to do it. Shane stepped in. BAM! Fucking did it!! It was so rad! D then chose the stuffed husky wolf dog thing. We have never won so many ginormous prizes! So much fun. So much laughter. Such a rad high!

McCoy's 7 Fair 0 |
Lori got us walking off here.
|
Badasses |
We finally used all are tickets - epically I might add - and headed over to the art exhibits. Dad of course wanted to check out the mosaics and I headed over to browse the photography. It was getting late so I didn't get all the way through. We then headed over to our usual last Fair stop - the Baja Bar.

Photobombing Hello Kitty |

Right before a giant plastic confetti lept in my eye |

Best picture of my bro! |
|
Um.... |
|
Huh? |
We usually just chill here with our last drinks. Then off we went!
On our way out everyone had to pee except Lori and I so guess who had to hold everything.
We parted ways and I headed off to my car across the freeway. Let's just say I got quite the looks and even a few honks when people saw me trekking down the street with a giant snake wrapped around me!
Thank you so much to Dad and Lori for treating us to another fantastically fun night at the OC Fair! We've never won so many damn toys! So awesome!!! This is seriously one the major highlights in my life every summer! Great time with the family! Love all you guys so much!
