Our attempt at celebrating my favorite season in COVID...

 Obvi.

Halloween is basically cancelled this year.
Fucking COVID-19.

Jay-Tober of course is cancelled.  My dearest friend not able to come out from Austin.

Didn't get to do ANY of our usual fun stuff.

But alas - not all is lost.  We did our best!!!

You can see the Halloween Decor blog before this one and I was hell bent on finding all kinds of Halloween Spirit!  And I love all the people who still brought it!

Pat, Elise and I did a Halloween Drive Thru.  It was called Urban Legends and was at the OC Fairgrounds.  Sadly it was pretty lame but it did scare the kiddo so we learned she's not ready for Haunts quite yet.  I didn't have high expectations, and they tried, but yeah....wasn't great.  But it was something to do!!

You left your masks on and windows down.

Before we had to mask up

Watched some movie that didn't make sense

He was funny

This was really lame

The like one actor....

Did like the decor on this one

Random dance show

Sure ok.

One Friday evening we decided to partake in the outdoor Horror Movie Nights Taylor was doing in his backyard!  He has a small circle of friends invited, has a big outdoor movie screen and everyone is social distanced spread out in his backyard so we can enjoy the movie!  He did a kids one then an adult one.  We came the night he did Charlie Brown Halloween and Trick r Treat!  Pat, Elise and I got Blaze Pizza and had our picnic and movie night!  A lovely evening indeed!

They were excited

The weekend before Halloween I suggested we get our pumpkins.  Now, it didn't occur to me that the usual array of Pumpkins Patches wouldn't be open.  FUCK COVID.  But we were able to find one.  It ended up being a bit of a longer excursion and when we did arrive it was pretty crowded and didn't seem to care all that much about the current pandemic - but we masked up, went in and picked out our pumpkins, ignored the people and the events happening around us and got out.  I just couldn't fathom buying a pumpkin at a grocery store.  SO - success!

Elise wanted a big one

Knott's Berry Farm put on an event called "A Taste of Fall-O-Ween".  It was very similar to the Boysenberry Food Fest if you recall reading about here.

We met up with mom and Keri and had a great time!  Knott's did it really well.  Only 10% capacity.  Tables all spaced out.  Hand Sanitizers and Hand Washing stations all over.  Employees were cleaning in between all tables.  It was great!  They also had a little "Trick or Treat" area for the kiddos so Elise got some candy as well.  The food was absolutely delicious!  We went right when it opened so the crowds were even more scarce which was great.  As beautiful as I'm sure it was at night, I'm glad we went early!

Boysenberry Sangria and Boysenberry Beer!

My dear friends The Gallos went the day before and bought me this mask knowing how much I love Scary Farm!

Keri and her "To Go" Bags!

Snoopy!!

A lovely day indeed!

So on the actual Day - we did it pretty well I think!

I was determined to make it somewhat fun and I feel we did just that!

We carved our pumpkins which came out really cool I must say!  Then of course roasted pumpkin seeds which were delicious.

Time to gut these babies!

I went for Jack Skelington

So pretty!

We played Halloween Music, dressed up (Because when you move in with an actress/Halloween lover you have loads of costumes to throw together) and decided if we did have any trick or treater's we'd throw candy off the balcony.  That ended up being a huge hit.  We didn't have many but the few we got totally appreciated it.  We wore masks and used tongs to toss the candy down to the kiddos.  Jay also had a Zoom chat going for a couple hours that night, so we got to visit with him, The Shocks, Taylor and Eric.  Such a bummer we all couldn't be together this year but at least we got to spend a little virtual time together.

Trying to do a Family Halloween Portrait

Gave up with the dog

Finished the night off with a favorite!

This certainly has been a brutal year, and unfortunately we're still in the thick of it so I'm sure there's going to be some improvisation for the upcoming winter holidays as well.  Sigh.  But we did our best and I feel we did get a little Halloween Fun in this season even if it kinda blew.
