February 2025 Fun...

My birthday month!

Sadly this was probably one of the crappiest birthday months I've had. We didn't do much at all due to the fact that most the month has been having to always have someone home with our poor Poe while we waited for his allergic reaction mishap to be all clear, and now waiting on this new med to kick in. Plus we have yet to get his seizures under control. Hell we never even made our wine pick up this month. Oh and the fact that our country is crumbling. Sigh. But there was some light.

This one is not helpful when I'm working out

Food:
Pat's on a new diet, so lots of new recipe's coming out!

Pork lettuce wraps

Porkchop with Collard Greens and Bacon

Ahi Tuna Salad Bowl
One Friday afternoon Renee and I tried a new little wine bar in the Circle. So cool!

This isn't the prettiest dish but it was fantastic - Bacon Wrapped Chix with a yummy Onion Jam! Cucumber Salad on the side

I'm not a huge pork chop fan, so Pat made a dish that had a bunch of stuff (onions and bacon) on it and it was pretty good!

Bowling:
I seem to be doing a bit better this season.
Cesar subbed for Libby one night - another Handy Hornet!

Got my 1st Turkey of the Season!

Owen snuck in to watch me one night-sadly it was my worst game! Love seeing him though

The week my birthday fell

Tim made AMAZING. Chocolate Cream Puffs

Jenny made these delicious Apple Cider Snickerdoodles

Our "Supper/Cooking Club" this time decided to do a brunch! Since it was the Sat before my birthday, Terri brought over decor and it was kind of a birthday brunch. So that was just lovely!  The food was incredible. And Noel has joined the group!

My contribution - fresh squeezed and ready for champagne!

Table is set!

Very sweet of T to make me feel celebrated! (She painted that sign on canvas!)

Tianna's Egg & Chorizo Bake

Pat made Pork Belly Benedicts, Julie a Bacon/Thyme Waffle, Terri potatoes with chimichurri! SO GOOD!

Noel made Cinnamon Rolls with a Sugar Cereal Icing!

Terri made me brownies from scratch instead of a cake.  Yummy!

My birthday was pretty low key. Pat had his pool league, and we can't leave Poe alone or take him anywhere yet, so I was homebound most of the day. But Libby did take me out to breakfast with Cori, mom stopped by and brought me lunch, and dad stopped by to say hi. So still got to have a little fun.

Later that evening we just chilled

Poe loves Pampa!

Thank you Libby!  A lovely breakfast with some of my favorite girls!

So that's it for Feb.  Not too much this month.  Been a bit of a rough start to this damn year, but hopefully things will start looking up! So very grateful for the good times and the good memories we can make!

Inchie Challenge...

My dear friend Renee encouraged me to sign up for the "Inchie Challenge".  This gal at Mindful Art Studio did a 12 day challenge to do "A little art every day". We were to get watercolor stuff, and cut out 2x2 inch little squares to paint on. She'd give us a daily word prompt and off we go!

I never got around to cutting 2x2 squares, but got some watercolor paper and halved them. She of course encourages you to do whatever you like. I am horrible at drawing/painting/crafts. I never inherited that talent from my mother. I do consider myself a creative person, but never had the knack to draw or paint. For some reason and the first time ever - I didn't care. Maybe it's because our world is burning around us and I was desperate for some joy and to share it? Well I did - and I shared my silly little drawings on Instagram every day.

I truly enjoyed doing it! I love how watercolor isn't even. It's kinda messy. I liked challenging myself to do it even though I'm terrible at it. I'm also very into "Prompts". Writing prompts, the Artists Way, Photo prompts, and now these little art prompts. I looked forward to them every day! I was actually also surprised that I even liked a few! I think this is the Universe telling me to have some sort of creative prompt all the time. Now I need to figure out what's next! I have been thinking about hunting down my Writers Book of Days book....

So here are all my days in the Inchie Challenge!

Day 1 - LIFT

1st one - kinda cute? Get it...lift? LOL
Day 2 - REBEL

I thought I'd write a little for this one

Day 3 - SHROUDED

Hmmmm....Shrouded hearts in clouds?

 Day 4 - STAMEN

Stamen? Um...I tried. I like my happy bee, but Luna bumped me while I was painting and it looks like he's barfing....

 Day 5 - UNDER

I've always had a connection with trees. Figured under = roots = I can draw a tree!

 Day 6 - GALACTIC
This turned out to be a favorite! I had an idea, didn't like it, threw it away. Tried something else - my paper was curved due to the water but then the paint fell into a really cool spot and it turned out really neat!

Day 7 - BRAIDED

This one taught me I cannot draw a braid. LOL. But I did enjoy drawing these lines. Terri mentioned "Tangled" is a type of drawing exercise and it's how a lot of Celtic Knots come about. I found this quite meditative.

 Day 8- DOTS

I didn't have a lot of time this day. I had an idea but didn't have the time to execute it. I did also find this meditative as well. May be fun to explore dot art

 Day 9 - DOORWAY

This one is terrible. LOL. This is a clear one to show I cannot draw for shit. My friend said it looks like a swimming pool.  She's not wrong, Ha! So much for my Hobbit Door Idea..

 Day 10 - CONTRAST

Really liked how this one came out! I was thinking Yin and Yang

 Day 11 - THREE

This one turned into something I wasn't expecting to love so much. How damn cute are they!?

Day 12 - CHECKERED

Our last day fell on Valentine's Day!

Wanted to display my little challenge!
So there we go! A super fun little challenge that I so enjoyed! I also now have a small little watercolor set, so I'll need to do something with it!  Yay Art!
